It means that is something connects to the firewire port, it's free to read and write any chunks of memory, and the computer won't know it. It's been speculated this would be a giant vector to hack/crack/snoop on memory, on a live computer, completely unbeknownst to it. Well, speculate no more. Sope people actually do it. The bloatware excuse: Flash was originally designed to be fast and efficient. the plugin was light and the applications were tiny. But just as mid-size cars have doubled weight in the last 20 years, Flash had bloated 100 fold times it's footprint. Of course it won't run on the iPhone. Of course Apple does not want it there. Of course Adobe is unable to port it. On top of that, the article's undertone seems to highlight that Flash is only good for web advertizement and Safari provides a desktop like experience. The reason is that it's good at searching, that's what people want, on the flip side, it's good at selling advertizement, that's what the people with a financial stake in Google want. These stupid screenshots mean nothing. Google.com = search engine. Aol and Yahoo like a lot of others like MSN and all the dead ones (home.com, excite.com etc) are portals.
